TIP: “Now is Now, Are you Going to be Here or Not?”

I’m inspired daily by a poster I got off Etsy with that phrase.

While we focus on the possibilities in what lies ahead and make a conscious effort to actively engage in building a life and future that is reflective of our actual selves, it’s important to not get lost in what might come OR what has already happened. Strange as it might seem, this process is really about engaging in today. What engaging in today looks like will be different today than it will ten years from now. SO, we can’t template it, we cant force it, and we can’t manipulate today by thinking about tomorrow (aka an expected outcome). What we can do, is lean into and lay hold of the opportunities being presented. 

Opportunities aren’t always pleasant, and they certainly aren’t always of the flavor of “that phone call you’ve been waiting on to start that new thing”. No, most opportunities are missed because they come wrapped in a package of everyday life, and often unpleasant moments we wished weren’t happening. They are baby steps to break down the cycles we have lived in for so long. They are practicing holding onto the deeper truths you’ve touched base with even in, and more accurately ESPECIALLY in, the situations that make it hardest to do. Opportunities are the hard conversations. The stretching moments. The vulnerable moments. Exercising your faith by getting up one more time when you feel you don’t have it in you. They are moments of gratitude. Moments of confusion, where you dig just a bit deeper and find clarity. 

The point – NOW is always THE opportunity. Whether it be big or small, fun or unpleasant, easy or hard. Now IS your gift. Don’t shy away from it by distracting your mind with the comfort of the story you already know, the past. Lean into the now, and allow the past in this moment to inform you. Don’t dismiss now as something lesser than because the future holds something better. Lean into the now and you will pave the path for that future you dream of.
