Breath deeply and sit with it
I was sick all week which made engaging in much of this process difficult. I wasn’t able to mentally keep up with everything and this challenged me. I felt bad about it and in my vulnerable state was tempted to sink into my old ways of thinking. Self doubt, criticism and a “you’ll never make it because you are the problem” cycle knocked at my door. To fight it I was tempted to force myself into this weeks prompt and the exercises and activities but what my body needed, was rest. I had to find a solution that cared for all of me but when your circumstances push you out of the comfort zone and into a place where the usual tools aren’t as easy to put into place we sometimes have to take a deep breath and sit with the discomfort. And sometimes, that is exactly what the moment needs. It’s the opportunity that is being presented. To give yourself permission to just be AND to fight the urge to escape all that is uncomfortable about that.
That was difficult for me. Period. But especially difficult because I wanted to keep up on this challenge. I needed to just sit with that discomfort. I assume this post will be timely for the right people needing to hear it (now or in the future). If this is you and circumstances are making it hard to stick to this and you are feeling past beliefs and fears come up about whether or not there is hope for change. There is hope. You just need to take a deep breath (or many) and give yourself some room to just sit in whatever it is life has thrown your way. And whether it’s next week or next month – commit to coming back. You can do this. Don’t let those fears lie to you about the hope in your future. This is just a moment you are passing through, not your truth.
Show yourself compassion here. You’ve come a long way and you are on a beautiful journey.
